This outstanding poem is “out of the mouth of babes,”   insight into the minds of our children.   They are suffering; they see the world for what it is also.

To Fit In, Hitler’s Way

            by Gary Crane

Darkness blinds the eyes of a child,
Angry he is after a tragic loss,
Society laughs at his reactions all to make a file,
But only at his father’s life cost,

Depression and suicide have the blackest atmosphere,
However; the “Support” is there, but not all too there,
They “Send” cards; say they are “Sorry”,
Little do you know; they show sorrow for a week,

They expect you to move on,
They expect you to act normal,
Through society persuasive promises,
To be successful, rich, and popular,

All an act to be considered favored,
They all want to be independent and “Normal”,
But they won’t spill their actual flavor,
And the truth isn’t so formal,

To be “Normal” is to think alike,
I see them all ride on the same bike,
All depending on each other to pedal,
Then I see the most terrifying aspect,

All try to pedal faster and faster than one another,
Competition fails as they fall to their knees all to please the higher figure,
In the end it all reminds me of the single marching file,
Of Hitler’s Nazi style.
