India asks US embassy to shut club – News – Al Jazeera English.
India retaliates. US-India relationship: One hand no longer washes the other.
My continuing coverage of this story leads me to ask several questions which would clarify this incident involving an important women of India’s upper caste.
When did she become a diplomat? What is diplomatic immunity?
When all is said and done, she committed a crime.
For certain, the reports surrounding her arrest were alarming. Was she resisting arrest? What exactly are her charges? Without knowing these facts it is difficult to determine why she was humiliated.
If there are no reasons or justification, she can exercise the American Right to SUE. With her money and her country, she will have no problems finding a good lawyer.
What’s crazy is that Ms. Khobragade could afford to pay her servant U.S. minimum wage and yet decided not to. The only reason I can think of as to why she would not pay U.S. minimum wage is to keep her servant in a sort of mental bondage as a lower caste, the way the old U.S. Jim Crow segregation would just mess with African American’s by needlessly segregating everything.
Sad if that is the case, given India’s indignation and retaliatory response to US citizens –most are miltary and other personnel offering assistance to India If so, I expected or anticipate India will do the right thing. Although a caste system is another form slavery, eating away at the very soul of humanity.
A caste system belongs buried and forgotten in the past.
When this first started, I recall reading stories that she was not a diplomat then she was a quasi -diplomat now she is full fledged. Do you know the real story?
