Did You Know – Stupid Laws

Did You Know? Stupid Laws

  • Bathing is prohibited during the winter in Indiana. (What?)

  • It is illegal for shop owners to sell toothpaste and toothbrushes to the same customer on Sunday in Providence, Rhode Island.

  • A monkey was once found guilty of smoking a cigarette in South Bend, Indiana

  • In 1837, a law  entitled a woman to bite off a man’s nose if he kissed her against her will in England.

  • It is against the law to practice knife throwing at men wearing striped suits in Natoma, Kansas. (You can throw knives at anyone else?)

  • The law forbids eating while walking along the streeets in Northfield, Connecticut; also,  it is illegal to walk backwards after sunset in Devon, CT.

  • Anyone who detonates a nuclear device within the city limits–of Chico, California–is liable to a fine of $500. (Only a fine?)

  • In 1983, an alsatian dog was arrested for snatching handbags and shoppers in Seville, Spain.

  • No man may curse while having sex with his wife in Willowdale, Oregon.

  • It is still illegal to make faces at a dog, a crime that could result in a prison sentence in Oklahoma.

  • A law–in Bozeman, Montana–bans all sexual activity between members of the opposite sex in the front yard of a home after sundown if they’re nude. (If you wear socks then  it is legal to have sex in the front yard after sundown?)

  • Finally,  during the 16th and 17th centuries in Turkey, it was illegal to drink coffee.  Anyone caught doing so was sentenced to DEATH.

Did You Know?  Why are some of these laws still on the book?  My guess to be selectively enforced at will.
