FFT: Does Trump’s Personality Disorder Make Him A Pathological Liar

How many are tired of Donald Trump’s lies? I am. I’m tired of reading his daily lies without him being held accountable. He is an established liar and I would add a pathological one. Why does the media print his press releases and statements without warning Americans? Shouldn’t there be a disclaimer on any comment made by Trump?

The average person can easily prove Donald Trump’s dangerous lies. A disclaimer would remind Americans and the international community that whatever comes out of Trumps’ mouth cannot be accepted at face value as accurate, further research necessary to find the truth. Such a warning would not affect Trump’s base followers who have an uncanny ability to remain ignorant in the face of facts.

In his commanding position as POTUS, why would a leader lie as much as Trump when his lies are quickly exposed?

What is a pathological liar?

Pathological lying (also called pseudologia fantastica and mythomania) is a behavior of habitual or compulsive lying. [1][2] It was first described in the medical literature in 1891 by Anton Delbrueck.[2] Although it is a controversial topic,[2]pathological lying has been defined as “falsification entirely disproportionate to any discernible end in view, may be extensive and very complicated, and may manifest over a period of years or even a lifetime”.

Lying is the act of both knowingly and intentionally or willfully making a false statement.[8] Normal lies are defensive and are told to avoid the consequences of truth telling. They are often white lies that spare another’s feelings, reflect a pro-social attitude, and make civilized human contact possible.[6] Pathological lying can be described as a habituation of lying. It is when an individual consistently lies for no personal gain.

There are many consequences of being a pathological liar. Due to lack of trust, most pathological liars’ relationships and friendships fail. If this continues to progress, lying could become so severe as to cause legal problems, including, but not limited to, fraud.

(Pathological lying https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pathological_lying)

How does pathological lying relate to Personality Disorders?

A pathological liar is an habitual, compulsive liar.  Pathological lying is both a symptom and a diagnosis.   Many personality disorders including narcissism have pathological lying as part of their symptomatology.  However pathological lying is a disorder on its own.

Knowing this, how much longer do Americans tolerate a pathological liar for #POTUS?  How long would you stay loyal to an employer who chronically lied? How can a brand or company found on lies be successful? Surprisingly, Trump managed to keep his base followers supportive by telling bolder and more offensive lies. Not much reporting on the harm done to Americans or the risks to American lives caused by Trumps’ lies.

America is divided. Hatred and distrust for each other are rising. This rising animus is the work of Trump and his lies. Why aren’t his lies considered a national security risk?  Fifteen hundred immigrant children missing because of Trump’s policy on immigration.

If there is anything we can learn about Trump being #potus is that the constitution is flawed and needs extensive revision. How could the founding fathers not foresee a pathological liar like Trump at the helm?  Or his replacement even worse?

Would letters, petitions and visits to Congress and the DOJ  jumpstart the impeachment process while helping Mueller complete his investigation? We the people must act quickly before Trump turns America into another WWII Nazi Germany or worse.   Just think his base followers become our law enforcement.  What will you do?

  1. Thanks to your post, Angela, I easily learnt what a patholigical liar is. Habit!

As for Trump’s agenda, I’m split between thinking he was ‘controlled opposition’ to Killary and still is, or was and is now going his own way.

  2. The layout of my last comment was different from what lousy WordPress published. So here is a second try.

Believe me, if people/the media wouldn’t pay attention to Gringo Trump, he would ride off in the sunset in no time. But guess what:

There are (a lot of) people with the same personality traits as that German Gringo, but lacking the guts to regularly show them off openly. As a result they adore their Supreme Leader to no end, and pat him on the shoulder whenever possible, which…..um….. is constantly.

Others, and certainly the mass media, simply love sensationalism. It’s their way to compensate for their own dull, dry, and boring existence.

Self-proclaimed vanilla activists/revolutionaries/world healers thrive on this POTUS’ activities. They wouldn’t want him to act differently at all. He is their bread, butter, and prime steak. He is their lightning rod. And if he really would ride off in the sunset one day, they would silently mourn his demise in secret, but certainly would find another scapegoat in no time. That’s what people suffering from ego-weakness always need and do.

Maybe this could be FFT too?

“We the people must act quickly before…….”? Well……act then. Keep the above in mind, though………

    1. Here I agree! Have said it many times that is the media ignored him; he’d grab his binky and go into a deep slumber on his way to prison for the unfiltered tantrum he would throw first

Lmfao. What crap is this? White lies make civilized human contact possible? Caramba, finally I know why people embrace lying so much. The motive is being civilized and getting hugs.

A lie is a lie. And that’s the truth.

“How can a brand or company founded on lies be successful?”
Hmmmm, tell me, how many companies are NOT based on lies? And about their famous branding and marketing activities: Is it not a must in that area, a condition sine qua non, to constantly lie your ass off? Just like all politicians do? Yes all of them. White lies, eh? Mixed with a couple of grey, black, and rainbow colors. All for staying civilized and being pro-social, eh?

“How long would you stay loyal to an employer who chronically lied?” Me? I never was loyal to an employer in my life, whether he/she was lying chronically, occasionally, or not.

    1. Hehe, Can’t take it literally. Everyone lies, and usually, it’s to spare another feeling. Those are called white lies and considered normal.

“Caramba, finally I know why people embrace lying so much. The motive is being civilized and getting hugs.” You are correct in this assessment.

Roald you’re unique, not everyone can be like you. At one time most workers were extremely loyal employees who spent their working years at one job almost like a marriage.

A pathological liar is a compulsive liar, often lying for no apparent reason. I’d add their lies harm the weakest link around them and eventually disrupt the quality of their relationships. If Trump were your average Joe without money, he’d be in prison for perjury among other things.

      1. “……….. it’s to spare another feeling.” Not at all. That’s just used as a lame excuse to make lying acceptable.

“Those are called white lies and considered normal.” Normal? It belongs to the pathology of normalcy

        1. Again correct about the “pathology of normalcy.“ “Normal” people lie and do things that could be similar symptoms to be with mental illness or personality disorders. The difference is degree and frequency of those behaviors and their impact on the person’s life. People with personality disorders such as pathological liars are usually more of a risk to others than to themselves. Their lies rip people’s lives apart.

  5. Dear Angela, indeed, Trump is a terrible pimp like personality (“Killary is surely not better, “we came, we saw, he died, hahaha” on Gaddafi), but the whole situation is complex, since we´ve got to drop the myth about the US President as “the most powerful man on Earth”!

    1. Andreas, I don’t understand. Do you believe Trump is not part of the power elite? Or that he is unfairly judged?

I realized #potus doesn’t call the shots from Snowden. But the position is still a powerful one to be in the hands of a mentally unstable person.

If Trump was not part of or working for the power elite, why do his policies benefit them? Or align with their ideology?

      1. Dear Angela, what I wanted to show in that article is that despite his ugly personality he´d come up with three points he made (surely not out of altruistic motives, he was only intelligent enough to see that a short time survival in a bunker was not realy desirebale) Detente with Russia, getting away from Regime Change wars and going against the de-industrialization of the US. But especially the first two points were totally against Neocon concepts. So they brought him “on track” and he´s doing the opposite of what he announced. Now he´s trying to fullfil their demands (and they have a “Plan B” with him, as described in the article). If “collateral damages” of the open “bully politics” exceed the Advantages, he´s still to be substituted by Pence. To be clear again, Clinton isn´t better (calling young black men “predators” and enjoying Libya´s destruction). They are all scumbags. As long as the People don´t organize to send them all to hell, nothing will substantially change!
        Cordial Sunday regards
PS: ah, and to my Analysis Trump was not a personal member of what is called rightfully the Power Elite (despite his wealth). The Neocons (being the strongest faction of the Power Elite) wanted Clinton executing their plans for World domination. For them Trump was an accident, which they “had to repair one way or the other. That isn´t a praise for Trump at all, just cold analysis. Oh, I´ve just come back from a three day conference on Palestinian sufferings. So tired, good night!

        1. Trump knows his entire presidency was orchestrated. Maybe his antics is more sinister than I imagined. He intentionally shifts the focus away from the actual orchestrators by labeling and executive orders.

I am interested in learning more about your conference on Palestinian suffering. Hope you will write about it.

Have a good night, my friend.
