My Thoughts: Leave It To The Universe

My Thoughts: Leave It To The Universe

Sometimes when I can’t see my way out, I leave it to the universe after doing all I can. Once again, I call on the universe to take care of my house as I can’t see my way out.

I appreciate the advice and concern of everyone here. You helped me to stay present.

Writing my thoughts is cathartic. Keeping them in multiple pre-determined locations helps me remember where to look for them.

My house is a mess. I can’t function in a home where the only comfortable area is my bedroom, and it’s not very comfortable.

Turning the water off did stop the leak. Funny, I didn’t think of that. Anyway, I can turn the water on for showers, and I have bottled water.

The claims adjuster was not helpful. He did not suggest turning the water off or anything useful. He said it was my problem, and would not discuss State Farm investigating the damage. I guess I will spend the winter living in hell again.

I’m living in a house that is making me ill. But I’ll figure it out. Don’t I always? I’m beginning to realize how adaptable I am.

    1. Hi Rudy, Yes I do! I would appreciate it. It may help someone caught in a similar nightmare, and hopefully, the universe will help me. I’m sure I’m not the only one in this predicament.

I thought it was the anniversary of my husbands’ death that was making me feel life sucks; instead, it is a lack of sleep from living in a chaotic and unhealthy environment that is aggravating my illness.

  1. Hi Angela, I appreciate why you felt the need to write this post.

Yes, I once had a leaking whirlpool bath(tub), and would turn the mains water on & off to get a quick shower. Anyway, you today are to get the HVAC specialist to inspect the damage. I’m hoping he will be much more helpful than that State Farm employee.

Between us we have a 3-step action plan. And as I messaged you, we pragmatically deal with one task at a time, not feeling overwhelmed by the other ones yet to follow.

    If I may give a story here…

Local to me is/was an old soldier, who in the Second World War was brutally imprisoned by the Japanese. Unlike his comrades who fretted about getting sufficient food & drink for weeks and months ahead, he just each day found scraps to eat and managed to bribe a humane guard to secretly supply him other supplies. He totally focused on just the next 24 hours. He survived, the others died because they were overwhelmed with worry. He also used cunning.

So the moral of that story is akin to the Rudyard Kipling poem:

“If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too. If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies, Or being hated, don’t give way to hating, And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master; If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster, And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make a heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it, And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!”

    So keep your head!

Readers, if any of you can please find/offer Angela free/cheap legal representation to demand State Farm play fair, that would be wonderful thanks….

    1. My head is pounding. I didn’t sleep last night and I just need to close my eyes. I appreciate any help in spreading the word because I am desperate. I’m very concerned about the winter and how well I’ll survive this winter.

      Will respond more later.

  2. Angela I wasn’t thinking for cooking you can get an electric burner I have one by Living Solutions it’s 1100 watts and very cheap I think I paid $15 for mine at Walgreens. Can probably also get at Walmart or on Amazon.

    1. You know Rudy for me it’s another thing added to a pile of things. Further I don’t have much appetite. These days popcorn and a protein bar taste yummy together and make a good breakfast, lunch and dinner.
