Tbh I don’t even know how to pronounce Kanye’s name. If asked to name one of his songs I’d be at a loss but am quite sure I’ve heard his music. I should be embarrassed to admit but when I saw the picture of him and Trump at the Trump Tower, he looked familiar, but I had no clue who he was until I read his name and thought, what a sellout. Since then I shook my head in disgust when I read his slavery is a choice comment. Thought nothing of Kanye West until last week when his social media presence intersected mine.

I totally agree with your view. My only problem with Kanye’s statement was his irresponsibility and how he failed to realise that his statement empowers white individuals who choose daily to oppress black people in the USA. People like Donald Trump can actually back-up their irrational & racist statements because ‘Kanye West said so.’
Hi Letlotlo, Great point! You’re right. Whether he likes it or not he’s a role model who became Trump’s poster child of a model black man. (Trump would probably call him a boy and not a man.) Making a statement that slavery was a choice fit in well with the WS narrative that slavery was the best thing that ever happened to Africans.
They are adding fuel to the fire by giving Kanye significance in what I believe, his ill mental state.
As I always say don’t give negative energy credence.

Angela I thought Jean make some good points! Did we over react to Kanyes’ Comments? I think it’s time to turn the corner on victimization. Why? Because nobody cares! If we don’t think of some real strategies to help ourselves it won’t get done. Yes a lot of us still have that slave mentality. Again I want to emphasize NOBODY ELSE CARES!
Hi Rudy, Jean made excellent points! You are correct nobody else cares except the Black community, though not all of us. I do understand why some care. Kanye would not have the fame if not for the Black community so to see him turn against those who supported him to those who oppress us is a recurrent lesson we still haven’t learned.
Not every Black celebrity deserve the respect of the Black community. To me, this is important because white politicians think they can use Black stars to dupe communities of color into voting their way.
