Music For The Soul: John Legend’s All Of Me

Miami Beach: Angela Grant 12/2018 (Art Basel)

All of Me is a love song, but I think of my children when I hear the song. It’s a song that somehow takes me back to them growing up though they were pretty much all grown up when this song came out.  The associations we make sometimes have no place in memory and ostensibly logic.

It’s a sentimental song written by John Legend to his wife.  For me, it’s a beautiful ballad about love, not just romantic love.

All of Me

What would I do without your smart mouth
Drawing me in, and you kicking me out
Got my head spinning, no kidding, I can’t pin you down

Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I’ll give my all to you
You’re my end and my beginning
Even when I lose I’m winning
‘Cause I give you all, all of me
And you give me all, all of you
How many times do I have to tell you
Even when you’re crying you’re beautiful too
The world is beating you down, I’m around through every move
You’re my

    1. Hi Rudy, Thank you! It’s funny how once a song gets into your head how hard it is to let go. It becomes a beautiful song of self-love when you dedicate it to yourself.
