Coming down and around

by Gary Crane

Coming down

and around

follow the sound

coming around

and down

endless dark cycles

around and around

they go down

follow the sound

until the cycle comes around again

Here they come

Here they come

Here they come

Here they are

They are coming from above, they are coming from below. Whispering in the darkness. I can not see what they are doing. So many questions I have. Where are they? Why are they here?

Here it finally ends

Oh it’s not over

Here it finally ends

oh it’s not over

Oh it’s not over

I hear them speaking

Oh it’s not over

What are they saying?

I can not see

I can not feel

I can not hear

I can not speak

Standing in the shadows, I see them watching me. Circling me, surround me. Grinning, smiling. They come from deep in the shadows. I don’t know who sent them. Here they are, watching me.

Coming down

and around

follow the sound

coming around

and down

endless dark cycles

around and around

they go down

follow the sound

until the cycle comes around again

Racing around me. Closer and closer. I feel your presence. Are you the creator or my creation? So many questions, so many answers I know. Here we are together in this darkness, let’s see where it takes us

Cycling and cycling into one

I am glad to see you

We are not done

I will not run away

Why won’t you give me the reason

I will listen to what you say

I will listen to what you say

Here we are frightened and delighted

I promise I will not run away

Here comes the day

I am so glad to see you

Why won’t you give me the reason

I can not see

I can not feel

I can not hear

I can not speak

I can not see

I can not feel

I can not hear

I can not speak

I can not see

I can not feel

I can not hear

I can not speak

I can not see

I can not feel

I can not hear

I can not speak

      1. With this poem I could relate to multiple parts such as being in confusion and being mislead. The imagery of shadows smiling reminded me of my past being bullied or thinking someone was out to get me.
