Definition: Who Are Semites?

Who are Semites?

Semites are a diverse group of people with Arab, African, and Asian backgrounds. It is a cultural misappropriation to use the term to refer only to Jews.

According to dictionary.com, they are:

a subfamily of Afroasiatic languages that includes Akkadian, Arabic, Aramaic, Ethiopic,Hebrew, and Phoenician.

Based on https://www.merriam-webster.com, they are:

a member of any of a number of peoples of ancient southwestern Asia including the Akkadians, Phoenicians, Hebrews, and Arabs

b: a descendant of these peoples

Wikipedia’s definition is in keeping with the above though their presentation is confusing.

All the definitions agree on the fact that  Arabs including Palestinians are Semites.

The cultural misappropriation of the term to only refer to Jews is yet another instance of cultural piracy.

  1. That’s right! People limit what the term means since so many ethnic groups can also be Semites. Multiple African ethnic groups can be Semitic hence the Afro-Asiatic term such as Ethiopians, Eritreans, and Somalis to name a few. Several Middle-Eastern groups such as Arabs, Assyrians, and Palestinians count. Also, the Maltese can make a strong claim and they’re from Europe. Since Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib are both of Somali and Palestinian descent respectively, then wouldn’t the attacks and discrimination against them because of their ethnicity be Anti-Semitic?

      1. Of course, and I knew you would see that given the double standards going on. Funny how much looking at a dictionary or even a Wikipedia search can do for people if they didn’t know about the terminology.

        1. It’s something that has bothered me. I don’t understand why both Congresswomen did not explain that they too are victims of anti-Semitism from Trump and Israel.

  2. Every beast tries to hijack OUR identity as the Original Black People. Many African nations are all over the earth and were called many different names. We still shine through as always.

  3. Roald, I’m sure Wealthymims5 was speaking meant no harm.  I was married to a white man. I didn’t take the comments personally or feel like a sellout.

You’re grieving. Fifty years is a lifetime. Lucitta was part of you while physically gone; her memories live in you.

    1. My comment on and view of this black racist woman has nothing to do with me grieving. It’s a follow up to what I already said about her racist remarks from last year. She’s the prototype of all the white racists she says she hates. People like her are characterized by what Fromm called “ego-weakness” and Adorno coined as the “authoritarian personality”. Among other lame stuff, these people are in desperate need of a scapegoat, a person or group on which they can pass on/project their own feelings of inferiority etc. A pitiful bunch of assholes actually.

Btw, when it comes to so called friends and other acquaintances people like to soften up, coming up with comments like your last one here. Classic example of this shit: “Blacks are inferior to me as a white person, but Mohammad Ali is/was great.”

  4. 10 thoughts on “Definition: Who Are Semites?” <<< And only 7 are visible now (well….um….if this one comes trough, then it will be 8 out of 11)? Why? Lmfao!

      1. I have no idea what you’re talking about. All I know is that 2 comments from me, and 1 from you, concerning that racist friend of yours are no longer visible to me.Can you still see them?

          1. You don’t? You sure? Really? OK then, here they are again 😈

            >>>> Hey Wealthymims5, good news for you. “Huh? What are you talking about?” Yeah, absolutely fabulous news, you fucked up racist. My black wife, the one you called a “SELLOUT” (august 06, 2018) because she married a “DEVIL” (me), after having shared my life for almost 55 years, died two days ago. Must be music to your ears, no?

            1. It’s not fair to call wealthymims5 a racist. I don’t think you understand her. Her communication style is different.

I wanted to see the comment where she said your late wife was a sellout. Roald, why lash out now if not out of grief?

            2. Re: ” Roald, why lash out now if not out of grief?” Huh? I already wrote this has nothing to do with my grief, as I already called her out about this in August last year! Lucitta was still alive at that time.

Better stop defending this racist, Angela.

            3. Roald, I wouldn’t defend a racist. Aren’t you the man who doesn’t believe in labels? You make daggers out of them then throw them back at their owners.
