Does Trump Represent American Values?
Is Abuse Of Power An Impeachable Offense?
Isn’t a form of treason to circumvent government for the purpose of seeking foreign help in undermining America’s democracy? Isn’t that what Trump did? His Chief of Staff, Mick Mulvaney said, to get over it!
Next week begins public impeachment hearings. TAs a voter, I cannot tolerate more excuses from a grown man who is the President of the US and one of the wealthiest men in this country. His supporters embrace and isolate each attack on the Constitution as within the right of the executive branch. They formed a wall to protect Trump’s goal of redefining democracy.
Trump publicly humiliated American veterans who bravely served us. He called these brave leaders traitors because they courageous spoke out against his actions that pose a national security threat.
Trump and his followers interpret the Constitution in a way that makes America no different from some of the most corrupt regimes; examples include Israel, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Russia.
At the center of their belief is anything POTUS does is legal and constitutional while in office. Was that the intent of the founding fathers? Or was it concocted by his DOJ, the new henchman in the office is William Barr?
- Trump can plot with foreign governments for his political gain or to financially enrich himself and family.
- He can use the US presidency to bully American and foreign politicians as well as ordinary citizens.
- He can blatantly lie about his rivals to destroy their political future. Facebook continues to assist in circulating those lies on its platforms.
- He can intimidate whose truth oppose his lies by giving their pound of flesh or names to the starving dogs, his base of followers and supporters willing to do his biddings.
It boils down to whatever lies Trump utter should be taken as facts because he is POTUS. Based on those who do not want Trump impeached, a staggering 40% of Americans support his lies.
The office of the presidency used to bribe and extort favors from Ukraine. Trump risked American democracy as well as America’s national security for his selfish desires or political gain. It’s frightening that a sitting American President would demand the identity of a whistleblower who just blew the whistle on him. Trump and his supporters are known for their ruthless violence and their familiarity with the protections given to whistleblowers. The whistleblower must be protected.
Now, Trump and Republicans want Americans to accept that such behaviors are appropriate, ethical and above the law.
A stacked partisan Supreme Court will weigh in at some point.
God Bless America! We need it!
