My Physical Exam on Monday

I called my insurance to inquire about a PCA (Personal Care Assistant). They didn’t know what that was. I couldn’t provide them the information to get started. I will find another PCP.

  1. Indeed, I know of the vicious circles and nightmares of getting a PCA. It took going through a social worker for the hospital. I don’t know if that’s how things work in your neck of the woods or not. Things were really a nightmare last year. I’m now on the 4th agency and 7th PCA. The one I have now has been with me since Dec. and things are working well. We have things in common, she is educated, respects my home and has really spoiled me. I wish you the best.

    1. Hi Xena, I don’t have a social worker and never did. Smh. What kind of things do PCA do? Looks like I am going to have to put on armor and go battle for my health.

      1. A PCA has the responsibilities (if needed) of keeping your house clean, making sure you have prescription medications and take them as prescribed, and helping with your personal hygiene such as bathing, washing hair, etc. They take you to the store, doctor appointments, business errands.

They can help prepare meals, do laundry, and assist with other things. They can monitor you in the event you have physical therapy exercises to do at home, but they cannot provide medical care.
