Exercise: Did It!

Did it! 5k. One of my few runs on an empty stomach and no water. For some reason, I wasn’t thirsty though my mouth was dry. About 42% of the run was in zone 4. I like to stay in zone 2 or 3. This run, while not my best, I worked hard and pushed it. Days like this one are numbered so enjoy it. Get out! Do it!

  1. Angela, I’m unable to run the video, in which you probably noted the number of miles for this outing. Good job! — I’ve always gone out without preceding food or water…a matter of choice, conditioning and, to some extent, mind control….

      1. Thanks, Angela. I watched the video! Hmmm–I’m not sure how to respond to my “mind control.” It may have to do with the history that my dear-departed wife was Japanese. Perhaps her innate cultural “Zen” mindset bled over to me during our 49 years…kind of like getting into a zone, pounding the pavement, not allowing external trivia like hydration, pain, weather, etc., to interfere with the end goal: finish (i.e., “Did it!”). Now, if you challenge me that hydration is hardly a “trivial” matter, I’ll be forced to cry “Uncle”!

Diff’rent strokes (strides) for diff’rent folks?

        1. Hi Bob, Sounds like you enjoyed running. I used “mind control” to do my run today. I was tired but determined. Music and great weather helped me focus on humor. While exhausted, I kept going with good form too. And I did it! I almost always run with water. It recharges my battery. Hydration is not trivial, it’s important to the body. You know that. Lol

            1. I’m not (anymore). But I don’t want my electrolytes wash away.

Btw, in my early teens I ran the 100 m in 11.3 sec, on grass. Nobody paid attention 👀
