Exercise: Did It!
Dit it! I did a combo of walking and jogging–walked for 30 min and jogged for 30 minutes. I felt great. The weather was fantastic, blue skies.
I made a discovery today. By doing a warm-up walk, my HR was more controlled and didn’t spike above 170. From now on, I will do a warm-up walk for 10-15 minutes before jogging and then a cool-down walk for 10-15 minutes.
Pre-exercise BP: 145/96 HR 78. Post-exercise BP: 126/97 HR 82
Average HR 140; maximum HR 162.
Over 50% of the workout was in zone 2 and 3, with only about 5% in the dreaded zone 5.
It’s common sense and seems obvious, but I need to warm up before I exercise. If not, my heart rate goes haywire and spikes to dangerous rates. That was an important lesson. Warm-ups and cool-downs are essential to exercise and to stay in shape.
