Police get off for murder and 9 year olds get sent to adult jail. What is going on? People do you not see the problem? What are we going to do? The police are ready to kill entire communities with the governments’ help please PROTECT yourselves… Remember what one does the other can…model behaviors, study techniques and dialogues. Learn to develop narratives to defend against the lies of police officers.

Ridiculous zero- tolerance school policies are part of a national criminalization of Black children that is designed to move them efficiently through a series of chutes, ending at age 18 in state prison. Oh, and essentially donating their labor to private corporations via the skyrocketing rise of for-profit prison industries.
School boards under pressure to prove tough, proactive responses to drug and weapons use, bullying, sexual harassment, etc, implement these punitive, ineffective rules, and they can be pressured to dump them as well. More and more white suburban districts have voted them out, and wherever boards are not appointed, parents can give them the boot at the next election,
Zero tolerence functions to take the focus off the real causes of social problems. That’s why it can’t distinguish a normal kid fight from a crime. And with everyone lumped in together, those children who DO need support for violence-related issues are assigned criminal identities instead.
Now everyone’s got one.
Meanwhile, as society clucks its disapproval of all those bad Black children, white policy makers continue to erode the integrity of their families, homes, communities and health. Toxins are often present in the ground they play on, the air they breathe, the water they drink, and the homes they live in.
Let’s see a big, fat zero-tolerance for THAT! Let’s insist on hundreds of millions of dollars in damages!
And let’s add child endangerment, child abuse, and civil rights violations to all the other charges.
Let’s make racism unaffordable!
Claire, you bring up these interesting balancing solutions. Let’s have zero tolerance to the abuses of the law that inflict terror on groups of American citizens. Policymakers ignoring such offenses are deemed in violation and subjected to the same cruel and inhumane treatment at the hands of law enforcement and courts. Zero-tolerance and the same apply for the other stakeholders.
