Exercise: Did It!

Ran 6.33 miles in a little over an hour. Except for falling, I felt great. It was a cloudy, slightly chilly morning. Next year, my goal is to run a half-marathon. With COVID and the cold weather around the corner, outdoor running will not be feasible most days. The gym might not be open so I’ll have to find another form of exercise. Perhaps, a good exercise/workout app will help.

Remembering 9/11. Have a great weekend.

  1. “Ran 6.33 miles in a little over an hour.” Wow, that’s about a 10-min. pace, Angela. Impressed….

(And just think: a half marathon, 13.1 miles, is only ~2x 6.33!)

    1. Thank you, Bob. Last year, I could barely do a 5k. This year a 5k is a light run. Learning to pace made a world of difference. If I can work up to running 2 1/2 hours then that’s a 1/2 marathon.

      1. I should have written this above, but…if my arithmetic is working, 10K = 6 miles, so you’ve already mastered and passed 10K! (Back in the day, 15K/9.3M was always my favorite distance for an organized running event– not too short, not exhaustingly long.)

          1. Hi, Angela. I “liked” your comment but didn’t feel able to reply for these 36 hours or so. I’m having trouble (my incompetence) scrolling around your and other sites these days, but something made me go back to a prior post by you…and I was astonished and felt intimidated by some comment words I found. Believe me, I have no — zero — intent to monopolize your site or become your “lackey” or whatever. (I think we first “met” in a Palestine-solidarity context at another blogging site, and I felt, and feel, that we had a social-justice “soulmate” connection there. After that, your good reports at this, your own site, of exercise/fitness reinforced that perception.)

Well, to answer your question as simply as I’m able: “back in the day” for me was the early-mid 1980s. My very first race event was in 1984, and it was one of an annual “Diet Pepsi 10,000-meter” series in my locale. I still have the T-shirt and wear it on occasion.
