Exercise: Did It!

Did It! I walked 4.23 miles in about 77 minutes. It was hot out despite waiting until the weather cooled down. I don’t particularly like to exercise outside on days like this, but I don’t want to exercise indoors, either. However, today I was determined to go for a walk or run, and I did.

It was over 90 degrees, and it felt like 100. The air was hard to breathe. I probably should have waited until later. When I worked in the emergency room, heat cramps or heat exhaustion were common on days like these. Fortunately, I had no symptoms of either though sweat was pouring off me like water.

Average HR 150; maximum HR 171
I was in zone 5 for 43% of the walk.
Post-exercise BP 123/98 HR 109

I did my exercise. What exercise did you do today?

  1. Great job with the exercise despite the heat. I feel like it’s been in the 80s and 90s across multiple states recently even before there was some official heat wave (saying nothing about what’s happening in the Pacific Northwest right now).

    1. Hey Curtis, it has. Exercising outdoors in hot weather is tough and can be dangerous. I wonder how such heat will affect our future health. Fortunately, last week I was in Chatham. It was still hot in the sun but very windy at night.

      1. Certainly. It’s been a while since I exercised outdoors especially during lockdown. That’s good how you were in a more ideal location even with the heat going on.
